The original doc-in-progress workshop heads to Open City
Friday 22nd June, 5.45pm, The Lightbox, WC1
10x10 is heading to Open City Docs Fest for its first jaunt into WC1. New to us? Then the main thing to remember is that 10x10 is:
- A free project development workshop
- NOT a pitching forum, or a financing workshop
- ALL about the filmmaking
Filmmakers can screen up to 10 minutes of their non-fiction works-in-progress and receive 10 minutes of directed feedback from the group. Work screened can include trailers, excerpts from a rough cut, key scenes and even rushes.
A past participant put it in a nutshell: "10x10 peddles purely in feedback – good, bad, but hopefully always constructive. A unique opportunity, it provides that other crucial element – alongside money – that abounds in studio or broadcast infrastructures, but is in distinctly short supply at the independent level: the opportunity of a second, third and fourth opinion; the thoughts of an unbiased audience during post-production."
Run as a partnership between DFG and Doculink, 10x10 is a great opportunity to feel part of an independent doc community - to get support from other filmmakers, share experience and, crucially, a rare chance to gain a hands-on perspective of what works, what doesn't and why. We've workshopped all sorts of projects - from small, personal shorts to features that went on to be shortlisted for the Oscars.
Warning: 10x10 can be very good for your film's health. (As well as being tough, demanding and always exacting.)
It's FREE. Just book your place here.
