Session 1: The Traditional Way - David Castro, Screen South
Starting out can be a daunting prospect and these workshops have been designed to support you in finding the right road for you.
This seminar will be a step-by-step approach - talking you through the basics of starting out with your film or TV project, the challenges and pitfalls that you will faces in development, legal, financing, sales and distribution and informing you of how to deal with them.

The Internet and social networking opens up a wealth of opportunities for you to test and develop ideas, raise your profile and even fund and distribute your work. This seminar will talk you through the opportunities and open your eyes to how other people have achieved success. Includes, getting funding for your multiplatform project, crowd funding and how it works, commission winning tasters and independent distribution.
Speakers:
David Castro is an Executive Producer and is currently Head of Development and Training for Screen South. Previously CEO of the New Producers Alliance David is a keen supporter of emerging filmmakers. He is also an ambassador for D-Media where he also continues research into new methods of combining digital exploitation and distribution of film with new business models to maximise monetary and audience impact.
Andy Glynne, is the Managing Director of Mosaic Films, and the Founding Director of the Documentary Filmmakers Group (DFG). Author of Documentaries and How to Make Them, BAFTA winning filmmaker, and producer, Andy directs and produces documentaries both here in the UK, and around the world.
James Collie produced BEYOND BIBA independently in 2009. The film was released DIY in the UK, culminating in over 65 cinema screenings across the country followed by a successful DVD release. It was then sold to a number of territories including SKY TV (UK) and The Sundance Channel (Europe/Asia). In 2011, James released "Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo" his first film as a distributor in the UK with the aim of releasing three films a year.
